Well, i would like to think that most of us grew up reading fairytales.
come on the oh so great classics out there like cinderella, snow white and the seven dwarves, sleeping beauty? you dont even need disney to know these classics.
SO, anyways it gets to my point. Yesterday i was watching the latest episode of gossip girl (which was AMAZING for any fans that missed out) and blair says: "now i know why fairytales end when they do"
But yah, she's right, they end where they do for a reason. Common, look at it. they all end with them married and they all live happily ever after, but what happened if it didnt end there?
Like think about it, Cinderella? Prince finds girl that fits "glass slipper" and marries her. So what if that didnt end there? What if it the two would have gotten more time to get to know each other more share stuff about their lives. Like cinderella would tell him her life tragic story, and the prince can talk about his quest for love. I'm pretty sure the two would get bored of each other pretty quick. Commmmoon, this man found her at a ball and fell in love with her at first sight. Sorry, i am not a beliver in that "love at first sight" mumbo jumbo, and what if cinderella isnt either? Also, cinderella, what makes you think that she loves this prince she's forced to marry, what if she's just using him to get out of her horrible state (being the slave to her step mom and sisters) and once thats finalized, she'll just divorce the prince and take half his money? I'm pretty sure royalty fairytales dont belive in prenups. There should be a sequel to cinderella, called "Cinderella, life after the ball" and a sequel to that "Cinderella: divorce". And the last one will show a fat cinderella (because she was finally fed real food) with like 4 children trying to gain half of the prince's money and custody of the four children and make him pay child support.. ALSO, if you think about it cinderella doesnt even know this guy'ss name? like WHAT? haha oh my imagination. See this is why cinderella ended where it did.
Also now onto Snow White, So, prince kisses snow white, she awakens from her sleep, they get married and live happily ever after. SOOO, what if it didnt end there and lets say.. Snow white moved in with the prince in his mighty fine castle. He would have to build seperate rooms for the dwarves when they want to visit! who needs children when you have 7 dwarves! And, getting married right after he wakes her up? like you dont want to get to know her? Sure she's this princess in all, but really, you only kissed her because you thought she was pretty. I dont get why snow white didnt slap him in the face for pulling out the creeper moves. She probably did that when they wanted to consumate their marriage and heres how that one might have went...
prince: hey baby, lets make this marriage legal by the courts
SW: uhh, no. i only married you to piss off my step mother and now she's dead i have no more use for you
prince : but baby, you're finnnne, you're my princess
SW: i was a princess before i met you, and you're lucky i am not slapping you in the face for pulling a kiss on me while i was asleep, thats one step away from sexual molestation.
prince: WTF? i saved your life
SW: sooo, i'm sure someone would have figured it out eventually, we're not consumating this one. I'm rescued form the forest, i'm back home and my b*tch of a step mother is gone. My life's perfect now. i'm getting an annulment, goodbye.
Prince: ..
But we all know snow white was too much of a goody goody for that scene to ever happen after it ends.
But, arent we glad that that one ended where it ended?
Arent we all glad fairytales end when they do. They all live happily ever after and no one (but me) ever questions what happens afterwards, or how come these characters dont really know each other before they get married. It's all love at first sight and happily ever afters. It all gives us that sense of false hope that, there is a "prince" out there waiting for each and every one of us that will sweep us off our feet, we'll get married (or not) and live happily ever after.. Right? We all want to live happily ever after, right? Oh the typical young girl's dream. The relationship with the prince ( WHO SEEM TO NEVER HAVE A NAME, like what if it's all the same prince whose just playing all these girls!!) and the damsel are always so.. "perfect". Then again, they havent known each other for too long, they havent been through much together. They dont go through all the mile stones and bridges to build a strong and healthy relationship, and they dont really have much going on to ruin their perfection. Heck, they dont even know each other's last names or anything!. But we dont question that stuff, you know why?
Because they end before that happens.
They end with no drama , nocontraversy and while all characters are all happy.
Life's not like that. Probably for good reasons too

andddddddddddd WELL, sorry if i killed snow white or cinderella for anyone, those were just acts of my wild imagination.
OH AND PS. yes i've read the grim brother's versians!
but most of them do end "happy" also..

Hahaha you're so funny. They should make a remake of these fairy tales =pÂ
@jhesyka - lol thanks, it can be like 21st century.. what would really happen if this happend remakes. lol it would most likely end up on robot chicken or something XD
I grew up dreaming of a fairy tale romance with a princess, and then ran smack into reality, and began to question why children are told such stories. I suppose adults want them to have their dreams and illusions and want to keep the truth of the harsh real life hidden for as long as possible. Think it would be better to tell them what they're up against...that dreams are okay, but just make-believe. I think we all need that to keep from going lupey...
@cliff_07 - You read my mind..I was going to say the same thing but you said it better. Yes fairy tales are obviously made for young children to keep them dreaming/keep them innocent as long as possible so they won't know how harsh reality can be untill they get older.
I never believed in fairy tales even when i was little. All the stories seemed way too good to be true. Too perfect. Life would be boring if it was too perfect and always ended in "happily ever after". I never really noticed these little "imperfections" in fairy tale endings until you mentioned them. Oh and I never believed in the "Love at first sight" thing..not really love if you use sight/eyes to seek out love..that would just be lust.
oh and very funny post you made..haha convo between snow white and prince was good lol
How true sigh...
haha, this made me laugh.

Fairy tales are as real as one believes them to be.
I really like what you've with this. It is very true and poses the question: How would any fairy tales turn out in real life and time?
gah, i like your sense of humor! i'm ashame to say that i was one of those victims who believed in fairy tales. especially the 'knight in armor' type thing. how ridiculous eh.
I have often been tempted to do something similar... how soon after "happily ever after" did Cinderella / Prince Charming divorce? I mean, really... talk about psychological issues. They *should* create a 21st century remake...
Try reading the real versions, the ones before Grimm Brothers and Disney toned down the stories to make them more palatable to young ears.
that's why Cinderellla and Snow White are for children...before they enter the harsh cruel reality of the real world. it'd be cruel to crush their hopes and dreams so early in life...
deceitful fairy tales, they're more or less just lies that are certain to make you fall. They were a good idea though: it's fun to play the prince who catches her and sleeps with her ^^
I'd like to point you to a movie called Enchanted =P
lol that movie parodies the classic disney fairy tale, but it also does what you're saying that fairytales don't do; it shows that although love at first sight may happen in fairy tales, in the real world, love sneaks up on you, and takes time to develop.
LOL. xD
So trueeeee!awesome!
too trueeee, life's no fairytaleee :(
yet occasional fairyfale like moments that sweep us off our feet :D
LOLS! i definitely agree with you. what DOES happen after "happily ever after"? if a movie came out for any Disney fairy tales, i'll be the first on line to watch it.
LOL.
Here's my verdict on this: You. Are. Awesome.
how cute lols
I'm never going to look at fairy tales the same. Jerk. :]]
haha this was great
but i have to ask... have you seen the musical "into the woods"?
the whole second act is the "what happens afterwards" :D
Good one, that was funny
Haha. I remember once i put as my status on some website : searching for the prince charming...and that guy came and he was like "you just found prince charming" and i was like...oh gosh he's such a cutie..and for few months he made me feel like a princess...but then...my friend told me he was seeing her at the same time and few days after my birthday he got another girlfriend (we weren't dating for various reasons but he was still flirty with me). Yes, Screw Prince charming and fairytales, I rather live in the hard reality.
Nice post :)
thats so true!
if you read my blog BareFoot Cinderella it kinda relates!
and love a first sight is bulls**t me and my boyfriend had to work to love each other cause we argue and then we love and it takes awhile! :D
i wish it was a fairytale.
